454 Engine

Did Chevy ever put the 454 engine in the 1972 Cheyenne short bed? It also has a 3 speed auto tranny with an over drive, was that stock?????? I'm an old F-100 restorer who has converted to the Bow tie and have lots of ??????
Thanks,
Bill

Re: 454 Engine

I am not 100% positive... but I believe the largest big block you could get in these trucks... is a 402 (badged as a 400 on the fenders).

Re: 454 Engine

No 454s and no overdrives on an auto trans... Overdrive was available with a 3 speed manual trans.

Re: 454 Engine

I think someone either put the 454 in it or put 454 emblems on the fenders. We know it's a big block I just need to crawl under it and get the #s. Thanks for the get back.

Re: 454 Engine

Aftermarket makes stock looking 454 emblems, and since 454s are easy to source i would bet you will find thats what is in there.
