40 gallon gas tank

Has anyone here ever installed a 40 gallon gas tank from a later suburban? It looks like everything should fit, although it would hang quite a bit lower. How about the bigger tanks that were an option for our subs, I think they were 30-31 gallons, anyone running one?

Larger Gas Tank

Bob,

I am not sure about the 40 gallon tank from a new suburban. I had an old 30 gallon tank out of a 72. I was going to put it in until I saw the new 27 gallon stainless steel tank kit offered by Early Classic Enterprises (559) 291-1611, www.earlyclassic.com

This is a complete kit for the sub, and its a lot better than the 18 gallon poly blazer tank!

is it just me, or is that way too much to pay for a gas tank?
Oh i see- it is stainless steel, I could just lay there under the burb and look at my reflection for a while.....

Rich,

Thanks for the reply. Did you have the attaching hardware for the 30 gallon tank? I would imagine the straps are different for the bigger tank as well as a different sending unit/pickup?

I think i have found a later model burb gas tank on accident. I wanted a blazer tank or burb tank out of a 67-72, but i would like some dimensions or a 30 gallon burb tank. THanks

mine has a custom tank, goes all the way from the rearend to the rear bumper, I have never filled it up all the way but I am guessing its up there in the 40-50 gallon range.
