What are these holes for??

I have owned and parted out several 70-72 trucks. Just about every one I have seen has two small holes just behind the floor vent on the passenger's side kick panel. What are they for? see picture.

I have those holes too. My truck has some C shaped brackets holding a pair of speakers bolted into those holes. I thought that someone just added the holes for the brackets. I will be replacing them with some kickpanel 6 1/2's next week.

Yup!! Must be nice to have had all A/C trucks!!! The non-A/C pull handle bracket bolts in those holes.
