new guy needing an opinion on drivetrain choice.

Well I just acquired a 79 C10 diesel lwb, that someone in the past converted to a 305 sbc. For 300 bucks its in OK shape. Been trying to decide on a drive train on the truck.

My first thought, to get the old girl on the road
4 bolt 350 bored 0.040 with block decked .020
Pistons are some cheap flat top hypers that sat .020 lower in the hole.
0.015 head gasket
Comp 268H cam
Performer rpm air gap
Vortec heads milled 0.010

For a trans i have a built 700r4

And thinking 3.73 gears in stock rear.

Other thought is waiting to pick up a 5.3 swap.

I already have motor and trans in my s10 blazer from option 1, so would just need to buy gears and swap it all over.

But the power and driveability these LS type motors produce is quite tempting.

Any input, criticism, or advice is appreciated. I'm not new to the automotive or performance world but this is my first half ton project, and first C10 ever
