Congrats on the new truck! It looks pretty darn solid, & I'm looking forward to the build. Are you surprising the wife, or does she know what the new project is for?

Flip,
I cannot believe how nice that truck is!
Looks like it has more dust on it than anything else!
How the heck did you come across it?
What is the story on the other? Did you get both?
I thought that you were gonna do a muscle car for your wife!
You are killin' me right now. I wish that I had done the BBW conversion on mine!

the truck is extremely solid and came with a ton of parts, all new in the packs gm nos side moulding, one of the nicest aluminum grills I have ever seen before, 2 tailgates one original another new in the box, even a brand new in the box sliding rear glass which I will never use but was still kinda neat, gm nos rubber for the cab, 3 sets of custom cab sail panels, its already 5 lug power disc brakes, power steering and the list goes on, should be a fairly quick build I hope. as far as were I found it one of my buddies at church told me his brother had one he was thinking of selling and the rest is history. the truck behind it is a 66 bbw I was going to lighten up as much as possible and see if I could get it in the low 6 second range (1/8 mile). the wife decided it would be pretty to cool to have his and hers 65 trucks and I was happy happy happyyour truck is awesome with the small window I think, I wouldn't change a thing if I were you.

Thanks so much. I'll try to update about dad when I get back to my home computer. Glad to hear about the new shop, & the his/hers truck plan is just too cool. Sounds like you definitely found a great truck to work with as well.

I have a 1965 C10 long wide bed. To get to short bed demensions is it 12" out of the front 3" out of the wheel opening and 5" out of the rear. Thanks Jeff.

Re: my 65 fleetside build

if you are going to cut down both sides of a long bed to make a short bed I would leave the wheel openings alone and just take 12 inches off the front and 8 inches off the rear, you would never notice the difference in the openings and you wouldn't have the weak spot in the center of the bed side, I would also remove the center stake pocket and no one would ever know the difference, hope this helps.

Re: my 65 fleetside build

Flip, have you any pics or ideas of what your truck would look like with a white top? I used a variation of victory red on mine but, I'm leaning toward a two tone. How are the other trucks coming along?

I agree, we need some updates from him!

Not exactly his truck (if that matters), but here's a link to pics of red trucks I have saved. There are some with white tops, so maybe it'll help you out. Link below:

I almost went with a white top and I think they look great two toned, the link likaroc posted has some really good pictures that will help a lot. as far as the other trucks they are on stand by for now as I am trying to build another garage to move my bass boat and the red truck into so I can get started on the wifes, but weather don't want to cooperate with me. I also have been helping a buddy of mine restore his 66 and its been taking a lot of time we started him a build thread but I don't think he has been putting anything on it, I think its under basking or something like that, but thanks for asking.

Thank you sir! He's doing much, much better compared to where he started. He's fighting it, & hopefully everything continues to work for the best. Maybe this crappy weather will clear up soon so you can make some garage progress. Looking forward to your wife's truck build when it comes. Hoping to get back on mine once it warms up a bit.
