Drive shaft question
For some reason I cannot use the search feature when I use my phone
So please bear with me. I did a LWB to SWB conversion and the drive shaft is now 12" to long. My question is should I shorten the two piece drive shaft or get a one peice drive shaft made? Thanks |

Re: Drive shaft question
I've done both. If I remember correctly you will need to shorten 11 3/8ths to retain the 2 pc. If you can get a one piece, you will never have to fool with the carrier bearing again. A big plus.

Re: Drive shaft question
I would do the 1 piece. I have one in my 71 LWB truck.

It sucks not being able to hear! LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB! After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

Re: Drive shaft question
You should have shortened the frame in front of the crossmember that the rear control arms fasten to meaning that the driveshaft still pivots on the joint at that point. That in turn means you need to shorten the front half of the driveshaft.

Re: Drive shaft question
I got a 1310 one piece driveshaft off of ebay. Here
That one is for a Th400 yoke. You'll have to measure the length and confirm the yoke you need. I also had to removed the center support hanger. That driveshaft has done fairly well for me even with 500whp. No slicks yet.
