[noob with a deadline] engine wiring

Hey guys, I am trying to get my truck running by spring break to get it out of my house cause I am renting my house out. When I bought my 1963 chevy c-10 there was no wiring in the engine bay at all. I pulled the original 283 and put a 350 in out of a 67, but now I need to wire everything up and don't know what to do!. Help!!. Is there a wiring harness for us to buy online or will we have to jerry-rig something up?

Check out American Auto Wire. They have complete kits or I believe you can buy them piecemeal. They should be able to help you out with any specific requirements as well.

I agree with gizmoduck, I've got the American Autowire complete update kit. It has everything you will need, and great instructions. Each individual wiring phase is bagged separately with instructions.

And then there is the wire with the two alligator clips and the screw driver. It will get it to run. Are the plugs still in the firewall? There are engine harnesses available. In the FAQ section there are links to the wiring diagrams so you can evaluate what you have still in the truck.

Yeah, how much does it need to move? How far? With about 20' of wire you can have it running.

Is it HEI? One power wire to the dist./ coil. Battery to the starter. You can use a remote trigger from the parts store for to start it. That will get you down the road.

Negative battery cable to the block
Positive battery cable to the starter solenoid
Wire with a pushbutton from +12V to the S terminal of the starter solenoid (or a remote starter button if you have one)
Wire with a toggle switch from +12V to the BATT terminal of the HEI.
Or you could just twist the wires together. Not that I've done that.
