I'm assuming those are speakers for the dash?? Looks like they modified a license plate to make it work.....or did it work?

They get a B- for creativity.

Re: One of the dumbest thing you've seen????

well thats acctually aftermarket if you pulled that out of your truck.. Pyle tho is not known for having great anything.
stock trucks came with one speaker the dual speakers are for more of a "STEREO" effect.

Re: One of the dumbest thing you've seen????

that's a factory original dash speaker with the guts yanked out, then someone mounted the 4" Pyles in there.

I can just imagine they did that to run with a newer 4-8 ohm head unit. the original speaker was 10 ohms, sooooo if you hooked it up to a newer head unit, it would be smoked in a few hours......

Like Sacto said, B- for creativity.

Re: One of the dumbest thing you've seen????

I've done it. I'm not proud. For twenty bucks I got a new speakers in the dash without having to shell out for the aftermarket jobs. I don't see the sense in bothering though if you're gonna hook both speakers to run on the same channel though.

Re: One of the dumbest thing you've seen????

Yep, I thought about it too. Decided not to do it because of the one-channel sound.

Re: One of the dumbest thing you've seen????

What am I missing? It`s just speakers made to mount in stock placement so you can have stereo since these trucks never had that.I don`t think it`s the best solution, but a solution.Aren`t we all wondering what to do for speaker placement all the time?I`ve seen these offered by companies.I believe Custom Autosound offers them.Beats a blank.

Re: One of the dumbest thing you've seen????

I may have that beat.

I've got 2 pioneer 4" mounted to a piece of plexiglass with panty hose over it to keep the dust and bugs out. 2 small bolts through the grill opening in the top of the dash mount them up.

Re: One of the dumbest thing you've seen????

Well i just had these old speakers laying around. They are 4ohm, so 2 should get the 8-10 ohms the radio says it needs. I could've spend a little more time and built a nice bracket and all, but i think it'll work.

Alot of companies offer something just like it, just built alot better looking. JC and LMC for sure have it

I like the panty hose idea. Just would hate to buy a pair, that would get some looks. LOL..

I'll take the B-. it wasn't my best work. Just glad it wasn't called a nut job for trying something.

Re: One of the dumbest thing you've seen????

you will need to run them in a series to equal 8-10ohms.

when running a series,

you take the negative lead from speaker a and connect it to the positive lead from speaker b. connect the + lead from speaker a and the negative lead from speaker b as you would normally to you amp, or in this case, the original head unit. the original AM only head units that came in these trucks were mono outputs, so you won't get stereo from your setup, but it should be a bit more crisp.

by no means do I think your idea is crazy. I would rather have a setup with 2 newer generation 4" rounds than buy another 4 x 6 with a paper cone (for $50).

here's a good link to the idea:

Re: One of the dumbest thing you've seen????

...and if you have speakers in the doors/kick panels and you have them placed so you can hear a left/right from either seat as you sit in it.....you will have the stereo effect for your enjoyment. But, as I recall, I can sit in my drivers' seat and adjust the balance and hear just what I want to hear. It's a choice we all have to make at one time or another.

So that's how that works. I thought my 18 years of marriage and each advancing year caused that...

Re: One of the dumbest thing you've seen????

LOL.. tone adjust. After only 5 years of marriage I've learned that. Just wait until the tone can't be tuned out, then i have to drop the wrench and come inside. LOL.

Marriage is a commitment, some say its an institution. I agree with both. Just like marriage, once your committed to an institution, you can't leave of your own volition. Can you say One Flew Over The CooKoo's Nest. LOL
