The funny part is that I was giving a demo on why levers are better to my girlfriend. I said no servos or electronics, just slide this over and.....snap. (Same lever has a pivot point on the heater box I can turn with my hand but if that isn't irony I don't know what is.) My Dad always said to use the two finger method when turning switches, etc..like on aircraft, I am going to start that right away.

I agree with you...the levers are so much better. Yours was just old that's all!

Look for one called a never pop kit. I think some air conditioning place makes them. I put one in, all the levers are made of stamped steel instead of pot metal like the stock units, much more durable.

They work I have one in mine. Classic Air I think is the name of the company.

I lubed and spent time working the lube into the cables. It made a big difference in how much force was required to move the levers. I had a broken lever and was able to find another control unit with a different broken lever and combined the two to make one good unit. With some grease on the shaft it is nice and smooth. The switch is still stiff and hard to tell what speed I have it in. I may tear it down to clean and lube it too, just to keep from breaking another lever.

Yep some good lube on the pivot points along with the cables and they work like warm butter..
