'72 Custom/20 4WD Upgrades Input Please!!

Re-building my '72 Chevy K20 4WD Flatbed. My grandfather purchased this truck new and special ordered it with a dump bed, (I believe dealer installed) and I am the envy of the landfill when I pull up and activate the dump feature!! . It has 90K original miles and all-in-all pretty clean but I want to completely go thru it, frame off and upgrade the following, (preferably plug-n-play kits/components although I can fabricate if needed):

1. Steering. (Column, rack & pinion).
2. Suspension.
3. Brakes.
4. And anything else anyone wants to suggest...?

Would really appreciate the input/suggestions.
btw if anyone wants to know my grandfather named the truck "Hazel's Honey" after my Grandmother, "Hazel" and the color of the truck, "Honey." (I guess it sounded better than "Hazel's Mustard.")

Thanks,
Mike

Neat truck, cool it has family history. At our landfill you are not allowed to back up far enough to just dump stuff out, you have to toss it over a railing. And if you have a dump bed you are not allowed to use it.
