We made more progress continuing to strip the cab down. we flipped the cab on its back, and sanded, and wirewheeled underneath ( it will be rhinolined in the future) steadliy moving forward. We found some rust when we removed the windshield so i will have to address and patch a couple of areas...

Re: Project Slo-Go 67

Picked up some seats for my son's truck. I bought them at lunch, and put them in the garage. When he arrived from football practice i told him to go start working on the truck, he was in shock when he opened the garage...

Since i switched to the '72 front and rear suspension, I went with '72 brake lines etc. I bent, cut , and flared the rear brake line and we fabbed a mounting point for the rear brakeline fitting on the frame.

Re: Project Slo-Go 67

We made some progress on the dash repair, i cutout the rust, and hand formed the replacement with hammer and dolly and some knee bending, pie cuts etc. It took me a couple of tries, but am happy overall with the outcome since i dont have any metal working tools etc...

Nice work. I'm with you on limited sheetmetal tools. It makes a person get creative on how too shape a piece of metal. Keep it up.

Thanks Alan,

Hoping with enough practice that i get to your skillset one day. It would be nice if i was able to paint my own vehicles one day and the job turned out as nice as the paint looks on yours.

Re: Project Slo-Go 67

Thanks for the reply, My son is staying stoked especially since it will be ready to go to my buddy's body shop soon, we just need to finish patching up some more spots on the firewall.

Good luck on your shop, I wanted a 20x40 but we got annexed to city so i ended up building a bricked 16 x 32 .. Keep your son heading in the right direction, they will appreciate later on in life.

You've made some great progress on your truck!

I have a question, why did you use the trailing arms and front crossmember off of the 72 donor truck? Could you just transfer the axle and the spindle assemblies or did you need these parts as well? I have a 67 that I'm doing the same transfer off of a 72 long bed donor truck so any insight is greatly appreciated! I ordered CPP drop spindles designed for the 63-70 truck but they use 71-72 disc brakes but I can still change the order if I need to use the front crossmember.

Re: Project Slo-Go 67

Mahanian,

We just removed the rear springs and trailing arms when we removed the rear end, because i was going to scrap the lwb frame, so we removed all parts and left a bare frame . you can order replacement axles to make the '67 a 5-lug, but since we had the '72 rear end we installed it as well. we did the entire front swap, because the 72 was complete, and with the engine out of the '67 we were able to remove 14 bolts on both of them and roll the front xmember out from under it. We then tore down the '72 front suspension for paint, and rebuilt the suspension. I ordered '72 2 1/2 drop spindles from ECE, along with 4' drop springs for the back.

Good luck with your build. if you have any questions, let me know and i will do my best to help you out.

Thanks for the comments.
