Upper and lower bush set on a camaro question ?

Hey,

Just wondering if someone can help me out.

Are the upper and lower arm bushes different sizes in ever year model from 71-81?

I dont know what year my camaro clip is al i know is its 70-78 and need to replace them.

Here is a picture of the options that my local supplier has and options on the years.

From what I have undrestand all the uppers are the same. There is always confusion on the lowers though.
Somtines for a cross reference I go to summir racing .com and find the part and click on the appplacitions button.
We have a very enept parts store here so I have to have part numbers or god knows what they will try to sell me.

The lowers have different bushings so you need to know the year of the subframe. The bushing outer diameter can be the same but the size of the bolt going through the bushing is where the difference is. I think the older subframes used a slightly larger in diameter bolt but not 100% on if it was the older or newer with the larger bolt. If you get the wrong ones, the bolt will not fit through the sleeve in the bushing. Take your bolts for the lower control arm with you to the autoparts store and check them with the bushing. I believe there may also be different size outer diameter sizes also. It takes some trial and error when you do not know the year.

I would just measure the bushings that will tell you what you need.

Re: Upper and lower bush set on a camaro question ?

That should work.

Back in the 70's when I was doing front end work at a Pontiac dealership in Texas GM sold a number of A frame bushings with different density of the rubber for different applications.

The Trans AM had a different bushing than a base Firebird with a six or small V8 did. If you went to a parts house they listed one bushing for all models.

The difference between lower bushings may be that the later models had metric bolts rather than standard bolts. Take a look on the markings on the bolts to figure that out.
