5 Lug Rear Axel Swap

Thanks in advance. I really enjoy seeing everyones opinions from their experiences with these trucks.

I'm getting ready to do a 6 lug to 5 lug conversion on my '67 swb fleet side pickup and wanted some opinions on this kit I found online.

while your there checking that out, if you have time, I'd like opinions on this suspension kit as well.

Thanks

Re: 5 Lug Rear Axel Swap

Wow. Nice stuff. They seem to like it too.
For $1600+ and all the work involved, I think id rather go find a donor truck that already has what I wanted and restore that. But thats me.
I just chopped up a 67 to put in a camaro subframe, and as soon as I got it welded out, my buddy comes over and said he found me a 72. So, now im gonna use that for my 69 project. Ill end up with pretty much everything your lookin at for scrap prices.
My opinion...

Re: 5 Lug Rear Axel Swap

I swiped a five lug from here (truck was $500)

And bolted it under my 67, swapped front rotors (about $60 @ Napa) and hit the road.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably would have left it and found some new suburban take-offs, which are 6 lug and actually look alright.

Re: 5 Lug Rear Axel Swap

remember that if you do just the axle swap, and do a disk brake conversion in the front, the rear end will be narrower than the front. if you could find a 71-72 rear end in your area that might be a better option. I actually have one for sale if you want to look into shipping
a 71-72 coil rear end will bring out the rear tires to match the front
