Argentine bed

Anyone Else like the looks of the Argentine bed style?? How hard would it be to get one here in the U.S.?? I thought about putting one on my truck, It would certainly make people look twice, and ask questions.

Re: Argentine bed

I like the looks of the bed, but sorta reminds me of the early 60's , especially with the small rear lights, almost looks like a step side tailgate, I don't mind it, but would rather keep the look of the long narrow rear lights of the original look of the 67-72 lights. That would be my opinion, would hate to know what shipping would be......

not bad, looks like a 60-66 fleet mixed with 67-72, and a step's tailgate

Re: Argentine bed

Not really my kind of thing. I like the look of the 67-72 domestic better.

Primer69er is right, those do look like 60-66 tail lights.

Re: Argentine bed

if you want that look, i bet you could reproduce it, without buying the actual thing.
looks to me like you could get the taillights from 60-66, tailgate from a stepside, and fab up some ends for the bedsides.
if you look at the pics, theres a seam at the end of the bed, like it was cut and new ends were put on.

its worth a shot, i would practice on a rotted out bed first, so you dont mess up a good bed

Those are tight. Kinda different, and at 1st glance it makes you wonder what different, to the untrained eye.

Re: Argentine bed

When I lived in AZ a few years ago, I saw a 73-up mexican bodied pickup. They have 67-72 pickup taillights. I don't remember why the tail lights are from the previous generation.

Re: Argentine bed

i did see that, although some put aftermarket on the front.

after looking again you're right you would have to widen the step tailgate, at first i was thinking those end caps had a 90 angle to make for a shorter gate, but im sure a good bodyman could widen it. use a donor gate and cut the ends off and weld 'em to the ends of the other.

Re: Argentine bed

Were they exported, or were they made down there? My bet is made in Argentina by GM. It would have been expensive to have a different bed just for export on top of the shipping.

Re: Argentine bed

They are actually found on GM trucks sold from Mexico south.I think the beds are produced south of the border, but not the rest.Like they were shipped cab`n`chassis.I know Brazil has alot of manufacturing and produces vehicles, like VWs.Not sure, maybe GM had a plant down south to produce entire vehicles.I guess the fenders aren`t US made.

Re: Argentine bed

I learn something new all the time. Thought I was looking @ a ol 63-66 bed. I think the tail lights are from the previous year group. Not sure if I like the tail lights. US made fleet 67-72 's lights add the character of the year group. Never the less still interesting.

Re: Argentine bed

this is the back of a stepside it looks the same. I think this one has one of those unloaders on it that hooks to your tailgate

I also noticed that none of the argentine models have V8's

These seem to have a few carry-over parts from pre-67.One word:exotic!

Re: Argentine bed

I don't like it. To utilitarian. Looks like a military vehicle and takes away from the clean lines of these trucks.

Re: Argentine bed

Their trucks look strange to us. Just think about how strange our trucks look to them. I'd imagine the Argentinians would marvel at our Cheyenne Supers and big block equipped stock trucks with full trim, etc. Thanks to GMCbsas once again for posting his pics.
