bed liners?

Having trouble finding a drop-in bed liner for a '69 C10 fleetside long bed. Spray in won't work for me (too much bed rust that I don't have time or money to fix right now). I feel like the drop-in would help spread the weight of the load a little better and maybe add a little structural integrity. Any suggestions on who makes one that will fit?

I think Penda liner may have stopped making that model. Before I posted my original question I spoke to a Penda rep who informed me that they only make liners for trucks made after '72. She said that there was a bed change in '73, so a '73 liner wouldn't fit. Any other ideas?

My dura liner was for a 73 SWB and it fits perfect. Now that I have a new paint job I'll be going with a spary in liner. The drop in holds to much dirt and water.

If you think you got rust now, put in a box liner and see how much more rust you'll get, 1970 cst short wide is right they trap water and dirt, and thats the recipe for rust, If you use one make sure you take it out now and then to clean under it, and let it dry out,if theres one thing I HATE its rust

I agree with Casey. I was really surprized on how much junk was packed into the front corners of my bed after I removed a dropin liner. The liner was put in before I drove it new out the door in 1998. All things considered, if you plan on driving the truck for several years the best bet is a spray in like x-line or others. Just make sure you seriously prep the bed because even spray ins can bubble and peel.

spray liners

Hey all. Today I just put in a spray in liner in my bed. I had one there before, but just like was stated in the thread, you have to have the prep work done. I had a liner put in professionally three years ago, and it started to peel after two years. Now, that I have had a look at it, I see that the metal was not prepped right as it was not scuffed. So, if you go for a spray in, make sure it is scuffed so the liner sticks well. Just my two pence.

Question

I was wondering if this spray on liner is removable if one wanted to go back to paint later on? If so, how?

Yes, my Speedliner is removable-- but only by the people that put it in. From what I gather, it is not exactly the cheapest process, they use some kind of chemicals.

Piston, I'm in Goochland, Virginia (about 40 minutes west of Richmond).

Everyone else, The bed in this newly acquired truck has rusted through in a couple of places. . . I'm assuming that it will be pretty costly to repair it to the point that I could do a spray-in liner. As I said in another thread, I'm new to this classic truck thing, so maybe there's an easy fix out there that I don't know about. Any advice would be appreciated.

hey duckdown, I'm in Mechanicsville...if you ever need some parts i may have something...
another idea would be to put a sheet of diamond plate in the floor and weld the edges...cheaper than replacing the bed floor

i used to have a duraliner in my cheyenne but i did not like it, even when it was secured to the bed it would rub the paint off the edges of the bed plus it held a lot water and rusted the bed some, if i where you i would highly suggest going without it maybe use a piece of plywood or something.

I wouldn't even bother with a drop-in; they do huge amounts of damage to the very surface they're supposed to protect.

Get a spray-in, and get it from someone who has a lifetime warranty, and knows what they're doing. When I got mine, my guess is some shops would've just shot it on the paint it had in the bed...little did I know that said paint would come off if you shot air at it from a compressor. I ended up getting the entire bed blasted before they sprayed the liner on.

By the way, if anyone's wondering, I got mine from Inyati liners in Chandler, AZ...I gotta say, they did an absolutely awesome job.

I would wait and get a sprayed on liner. The look great and they would make the bed rust out like the pic above.
