Re: Wiw 71 Cheyenne C20

If you part it out, I believe there is someone on this forum that needs one of the doors or fenders.

Re: Wiw 71 Cheyenne C20

$3,500 imho. Not sure you’d come out ahead with a part out.

Re: Wiw 71 Cheyenne C20

I just sold one in very similar condition with untouched 402 and TH400 for $3k. Original parts will always have value, but the LS swaps have put a damper on sales. Mine had tilt, tach, and factory aux. fuel tank. Probably more money in parts, really depends on the amount of time you have to deal with stripping & shipping! Harlow

Re: Wiw 71 Cheyenne C20

Yes med bronze and saddle. With the added pics, does that change your opinion?
If I sold it without the bed and tailgate, what might I get?
Thanks for the input.

Re: Wiw 71 Cheyenne C20

Other than the top of the passenger fender, where else is the rust? That’s in an unusual spot, maybe worth fixing and touching up if it’s limited beyond that. I still think selling complete is your best option.

The things that detract from value are 3/4-ton lwb 2wd (can’t easily change), rust, paint, and steering wheel (fixable). If you could patch up a couple rust spots and buff up the paint, replace the steering wheel and missing trim piece, and do a good detailing, that would help value quite a bit and possibly get you to the $6k value you’re looking for. Being “Turn key” is a big selling point for a lot of buyers, and although the paint is “crappy”, it’s all one color which is a selling point, and it’s original color to boot. The upsides you mentioned (a/c cab, big block, nice interior, runs good) are great features but the c20 models just don’t have much demand.

Again this is all just my opinion...

Re: Wiw 71 Cheyenne C20

imho it would take a lot of effort to recoup the asking price if you part it out - and I believe asking price is too high to make a buck on a flip.
I do think this truck is worth saving, it's really not that far gone - it would be the right truck for a buyer that specifically wants a 3/4 ton big block med bronze truck. Could have a decent truck for around $10K if you bought it for $5K, had some of the right parts in your stash already, repaired/replaced fender/doors, and spruced it up with an inexpensive paint job (as inexpensive as a paint job can be these days, still several thousand if you did all the prep, etc)
Just my personal opinion only. Generally speaking, it's probably a little over-priced period.

Re: Wiw 71 Cheyenne C20

Does $4500 seem to over priced? Both fenders have the rust top and some lower. Doors have a silver dollar size rust out nex5 to fenders. Couple small dents on top of tailgate. Passenger side door has dent from mirror contact. Outer grill surround has one dent in drivers side. San Diego Ca. Truck most of its life. No other rust or dents, very straight truck. Forum member ( Burnem) parted out a 72 motor home 6-8 months ago and sold the AC cab for 3K+ once again cab and bed very straight and 0 rust. Would make a great K20 with 4x4 frame.

Re: Wiw 71 Cheyenne C20

$4,500 is a totally realistic price. Remember we’re talking value here (vs asking price).

I’m just guessing that $3k cab went to a buyer on the east coast. I haven’t seen anything like that before but who knows!

This is the cab that Member Burnem sold for about 3K with the pass thru for Camper! Just the cab, and doors! no fenders, front end etc

Re: Wiw 71 Cheyenne C20

With the hole in the back of the cab that's very odd.

Believe that he welded a panel back in. Only cut below, and to the edge of back glass.

Re: Wiw 71 Cheyenne C20

Does the sides have primer shot over them as the tailgate looks factory bronze? If that truck was closer to Nebraska I would be all over it.
