Angle Boot HEI Plug Wires

I have a 70 C10 with 402 big block that I’m wanting to switch over to HEI. I’ve found that while the 90 degree boot plug wires will work for most of the plugs an angle boot (45 degree) works much better. I ordered a set of mid 70’s corvette HEI plug wires for the 90 degree boot but looking for an application that I can order a set of 45 degree boot wires

Any thoughts on what application would have these angle boot HEI wires?

*******And I have ZERO desire to cut/build my own set. Just don’t have the patience for it and don’t trust my craftsmanship doing it. *********

Re: Angle Boot HEI Plug Wires

I was with you on the cut and build my own BUUUUTTT I got a set of MSD street fire wires and did my own size and length ,comes with the little crimp tool . I have done 4 sets for others and am really satisfied with them, I ran mine in the stock location allso, I know TAYLORS are good product allso but have not used them. Seems like no matter what brand I used there was allways 1 or 2 wires that were to long or short.

I may end up going that route if I’m forced to but if I can get factory set it would be be better. In reality there are only several plugs that the angle boot is needed. About 6 of the plugs seem to work fine with the 90 degree boot but in a. Couple locations the 90 degree boot puts the wire/boot ends up hitting manifold

Re: Angle Boot HEI Plug Wires

you can do a better job crimping the conductors on the end of yer plug wires than a 12 year old in china..

all kidding aside [I hope], based on the poorly crafted crap that we often find in the box these days, you may be surprised with yourself

I've also crimped several sets of my own, hell even taken old damaged longer wires burned at the ends and made good short ones

good luck!

It may cost you extra but if you can buy a set of the plug wires that have the straight boots. Then buy a set with the 90* boots you may get a full set.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Can you get the crimping tools separately?

Question Re: Angle Boot HEI Plug Wires

Did you look at the links I posted. They are all HEI wires with straight boots that can be positioned anyway you need them.

Re: Angle Boot HEI Plug Wires

I have all straight boots, but IIRC, you can bend them some amount (ONCE) to get them to clear any obstacles.

Yes, and I really trying avoid buying $100 worth of plug wires to make two sets out of one. Plus one of the links was regular points style wires

I have a set of AC Delco HEI wires from 75 corvette BBC. That are 90 degree boot. I bought these from Rock Auto for $15. I was hoping to find another HEI application that I could steal several angle plug wires from that set and make it work.

I know I can crimp them but I’m on a time crunch to get this done. But I might need to just bite bullet and do it

Re: Angle Boot HEI Plug Wires

I have all straight wires on mine and they worked fine with the manifolds. A few are close with the headers on it now, but none have burnt in 500 miles.

Edit: I used a 1974 C/10 with 454 engine for an application.

Re: Angle Boot HEI Plug Wires

The straight boots can be shaped to fit around the headers.

This set was less than $50.00 and had all straight boots made for 454 which is basicly the same. The first post I posted was if you couldn't find any but after a few quick searches they are plentiful. I don't know what the $100.00 comment was for but whatever good luck in your search.

Re: Angle Boot HEI Plug Wires

I put HEI on my 68 with a 396 last summer. I ordered HEI wires from Rock Auto for a mid 70's Chev truck with a 454. Straight boots and they worked well.

I am running stock exhaust.
