Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I received your payment....thanks

I probably won't get these shipped tomorrow but the following day. I have a rush job I have to get done tomorrow, and it takes 3+ hours to get these brackets ready to ship. Hopefully that will work for you.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

You don't have to remove the axles to install these brackets, but you will have to, to remove the backing plates. Unless you cut them apart to get them past the axles. It really isn't difficult to remove the axles. When was the last time you changed the rear end oil? If it's been a while, it might be a good idea to pop the rear cover, R&R the axles, re-install the cover with a new gasket, and fill with your choice of gear oil......just sayin

Yes the price is still $232.00 plus $10.00 for shipping. The powder coating is still the same $28.00. You can use any D52 type caliper with this kit. Wilwood makes 2 different sizes of the dual piston D52 calipers. For the rear you will want the ones with the smaller pistons.....1.250" I believe.

Yes, 15" wheels will work with this conversion, as long as they are disc brake compatable wheels.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Have you considered adding tabs to the mounting plate to allow for the standalone wilwood mechanical parking break calipers? I'd love to run this setup and match my front Wilwoods, but need to be able to pass inspection with an eBrake....

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yes I had thought of that some time ago. I just haven't done anything with the idea since it will add some cost to the conversion and I'm not sure if that would put it out of price range for more people.

I'm not saying I'm not going to persue it, it just may take a little time to get it to a final design. I checked with Summit, and these are on back order until the 23rd at the eaeliest.

I looked at doing that but the widest rotor the ones I found could use was 0.81" so it didn't work out. Maybe they have another I couldn't locate on their web site. It is possible they could be modified with a machined spacer to make them work with the 1-1/4" thick rotors.

http://www.wilwood.com/Calipers/Cali...me=Mech%20Spot

They do have a hydro-mechanical parking brake caliper now though that can work with a 1" rotor.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yeah, I figured I would have to have some thicker spacers machined to make them work with the 1.250" thick rotors.

Those new Wilwood calipers, have a different type of mounting....they aren't cheap either! I wonder if a guy could add a spacer to those, and use them on the 1.250" rotors? Looks like they are a 2 piece design.....

You aren't kidding. Those are pricey. I guess I'll keep thinking. Not sure I want to go without a parking brake (not that I need or use it).

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

They are very proud of that caliper indeed. I would rather make the spacer for the puck caliper and use it in conjunction with my caliper of choice instead.

I thought about a differential pinion mounted parking brake setup using a single puck type mechanical caliper but for the work & parts involved it would be easier and cheaper to just run these on the actual brake rotors instead.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Adding a mechanical e-brake to this conversion bracket, is high on my list of to do's. I'm going to be ordering one of the Wilwood mechanical spot calipers soon.

If you do that and still have it laying around when I go to order mine (which I WILL be doing if you update this to have ebrake) I'll gladly buy it off of you.

Ordinarily your order would have shipped today, but I am currently extremely busy. Your order will ship tomorrow, and you should receive it by Friday.

Are the GM D52 calipers used on the front of the 88-98 trucks?

No, those are the D369 calipers. The last year for the D52's on the trucks was '87, or '91 for the V and R series

Thanks for that information. I'd love to install Wilwood two piston calipers on my truck. I guess that can't happen...

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

If you are talking about the '89 K1500 in your sig, I do have a 6 lug rear disc conversion that uses the D369 calipers.

http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=494411

But that does not get you the Wilwood dual piston calipers
