Front brake line help PLEASE

So I'm pretty sure I got the wrong brake line kit.... My truck is a 1970 1/2 ton with front disc brakes. The flex lines attach to the mount on the backside of the cross member in front of the shock. The kit I have requires the flex hose to attach to a mount this on the front of the cross member with a short hard line that makes a 180 and comes back to a T fitting. Can someone please tell me what I have done wrong or what I need? I have been fighting with these brake lines for weeks now!!!

You ordered a brake line kit for a 71/72.

Re: Front brake line help PLEASE

Thanks for the reply. So the 71/72 front brake flex lines go in front of the cross member and the 67-70 front flex lines go to the rear of the cross member?

Re: Front brake line help PLEASE

You have a truck that someone converted and short cutted the brake lines. The lines for the back of the crossmember go to the drums. 71/72 come across the front for the disks. I can send you pics if you want to see what it should look like with disks. You may have other issues that should be corrected in the braking plumbing.

Ok, so what would be the proper brake hoses to run if doing a conversion on a 70 and earlier with the brake lines on the rear of the crossmember?

Use all the 71/72 lines to include the ones running up to the master cylinder. If you use the 70 lines it can stress the rubber hose running to the caliper. Seen it, corrected it.

Also, the prop/combo valve is different between 70/71. I changed mine out.

EDIT: Master cylinder as well is different. I also get the new rear line that comes with the front set. It will fit into the brass union that runs down the frame for the rear brakes. You don't have to replace all the rear lines. Just loosen the clamps, let is slide and it will all connect, tighten the clamps back up.

Re: Front brake line help PLEASE

I used 69 chevelle brake hoses. They have the banjo fitting on the caliper end and flared fitting on the other. Not my invention, I found this info in other posts on this site. I did have to do a little grinding to get it to fit into the bracket where it connects to the hard line.

Re: Front brake line help PLEASE

As requested.

This is a 70 with a 72 crossmember and all brake lines on the front. If you don't have that setup, you can get the tabs for the brake lines online and weld them on.
