Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?

What are you guys doing with your firewalls? I'm thinking of painting mine satin black and that way I can paint the truck any color I want without painting the firewall again?

Body color. It just ties everything together nicely.

What about the core support and inner fenders? Body color or black?

I really don't like the black firewall unless it is a black truck

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?

I did the firewall and engine bay of my 57 flat black. I wish the firewall was blue like the rest of the truck. Core support inner fenders etc stay black in my opinion

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?

In my opinion body colored firewall and black inner fender and core support is the way to go.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?

If you have the option, do it right and paint the firewall body color and the fenders and core support black.

If the previous owner already made the decision for you, then there's not much you can do without spending some money

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?

I did mine with Rustoleum Hammered Finish black paint. Came out kind of gray. Makes the underhood area look much cleaner than it did with the always dirty white paint. Inner fenders and core support are also painted with the same stuff.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?

Like most every other response, firewall to be body color and everything else black for me.

But it is your truck, do what you like.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?

I'll jump on the minority bus. I like the whole engine bay to be black. But depends on the body color and use of the truck. For me, as a daily driver, I like the idea of black since it will hide most everything. Plus, if you go with black, you can powder coat the inner fenders and core support to keep them looking good too. Just an idea.

My body color is a very dark grey-ish blue. Most people think it's black at first glance, so it blends with the engine bay anyway.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?

Either way looks nice. I painted the complete engine bay same color as the truck (Torch Red). I like it but it's a lot of Red, that's why I ended up doing my hood hinges and radiator supports black to break it up.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?

Like the General did it...

Firewall: body color.
Inner fenders: satin black.
Under side of hood: satin black.
Core support: closer to semi-gloss than satin black.

I think satin black makes your attention/eye go to the engine.
