1978 SWB Factory Big Block value????

I found a 1978 SWB that came with a factory BB (454), A/C, power doors, cruise, power windows, intermittent wipers, bed rails, ............. The owner said it had ever option that was available in 1978. The truck has zero rust and is black with a red interior. I would say overall the truck is an 8.5 out of 10. The engine and tranny have been overhauled recently and the paint is fairly new. What is a reasonable price? I think that it is fairly rare, but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Rob

It is tough with out pics but lets take a look at what you have found. Lets start with the SWB, big block, loaded part. While this all certainly makes it a very desirable truck, keep in mind it's never going to have the value of a muscle car. Truck guys are not like car guys. They want all the options, but they won't spend much money to get them.

A lot of the value depnds on the actual condition of the truck. Is it low mileage? Has it been garage kept? What would it take to get it back to showroom quality.

If the truck is really that nice, it could be worth 10-12k to the right person. I'm guessing it's probably closer to a 7-8k truck, and most of these guys will call me crazy for suggesting that much....

also, if its numbers matching could have a big effect on its value. anybody can put a BBC in a truck and claim its factory.

It's a numbers matching truck. It's got 95K miles on it. I've seen the glove box sticker, invoice and bill of sale they all show BBC. This guy ordered the the truck new.

Too much! $15K, but I'm pretty sure $10 to $12 buys it. I'm thinking about a trade for my 52 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=166465.

Well again, I'll state that depends on what the actual condition is. I have found very, very clean 73-80 trucks for under 7k. They were loaded, but weren't big block trucks though.

If it's what you want, none of that matters....

Every option available in '78 should include all of the bells and whistles found on a "loaded" truck PLUS factory bucket seats, factory posi, factory tachometer, factory oil cooler, and so on. The difference in a "loaded" truck and one with "every available option" can be $2000.00 or more.

Cut the price in half. While "really nice" loaded long beds are a rare find, they just don't have the demand that a short bed does. The exception would be a 3/4 ton 4x4....

BTW- This is what I would call a "really nice" truck. It needs "nothing" to be like new because it is like new.....
