I came across this today not too far from me. It was crazy windy and cold, and not wearing appropriate clothing I did not have a chance to get close. Never ceases to amaze what folks around here can do with a welder and a bit of imagination. Will keep updating the story.

I used to see a lot of haulers done that way. Don't see that these days. Makes you wonder why. I wouldn't want to haul that way. That's putting a lot of faith in your tie-downs and putting a lot of weight way up high. There are better ways. Nice truck though.

I used to see that kind of set up at Sprint car races back in the 70's & 80's. Lots of times with one car on the truck and one behind.

Ramp trucks seem to have faded away into the mists of time back in the 80's in favor of trailers.

For me, the move to "enclosed" was a big jump in terms of keeping things clean especially for long distance travel and therefore making my life more pleasant. It's just easier to come up with an enclosed trailer than an enclosed ramp truck.

Also - with a trailer then you have a tow vehicle that can be used for other things, like as a daily or for parts chasing. With a ramp truck you have a dedicated hauler that sits most of the time.
