Manual Transmission in a 2016?

Actually I already have a 16 double cab LT in transit to my dealership that I ordered some weeks ago for my work travel truck. But I was wondering how crazy/ difficult would it be to have a 5 or 6 speed installed into a swb 16 model. I kept my 99 LS extended cab Silverado because I ordered and have enjoyed the manual 5 speed in it so much. I realize the warranty would probably be shot making it crazy to do such a thing. But I really do like the rugged looks of the 16's and the short wheel base model with a stick would make a cool little running around town ride.

Re: Manual Transmission in a 2016?

Manual transmission is available in Mexico (they use a different front of dash).

If you could source those components you could convert with all factory parts.

Wow, thanks Kieth. I'll do some digging.

Panel, when I ordered my 99 LS extended cab manual was standard. When I went to replace it in 02, the manual transmission was already dropped. I assume it was only in the 1500 series line up. One of the reasons I kept my 99 all these years since I knew it could never be replaced. I never thought of Mexico possibly having a solution.

Pretty sad when you're one upped by Mexico. All my vehicles are manual shift except the wife's 4runner. Guess the general recognized all men have grown into boys with beards.

No manual transmissions in any US fullsize trucks, not Chevy/GMC, Ford, or Ram. Colorado/Canyonero has a manual transmission for base engine...
Probably bigger truck inside than a 67-72....

But the Mexicans get a manual transmission??? Don't tell Donald.

The problem isn't the car manufacturers, it's the people buying the cars. If it won't sell, they won't produce it.

Your absolutely right. I am sure there are many others but in the 17 years I have owned my 99 Silverado LS extended cab, it's the only manual shift I've seen. But I don't work at a car lot or salvage yard so there may be way more than I know of. Std. cabs I am sure there are many manuals.
