2015 3/4 w/traler package

Does the brake controller move when foot brakes are applied and no trailer is connected? Or does it have to sense a trailer with electric brakes before it moves? Or does it never move unless it is pushed manually? The DIC shows gain adjustment from 0-10 and also a sliding bar I guess showing voltage to trailer brakes --the bar moves but no trailer braking,

I will recheck my trailer but it works as factory wired on my 2006. I have an aftermarket controller that moves with the braking --trailer or no trailer. I may have to take it back to dealer to look at.

Re: 2015 3/4 w/traler package

I have a 2014 Silverado with the factory installed brake controller. My guess is that the controller does not work until it "senses" a trailer is hooked up. The aftermarket controllers have no way to sense if one is hooked up. Larry

Re: 2015 3/4 w/trailer package

My trailer is a dual axle but only one has brakes and I read that the computer has to read enough resistance to acknowledge it has a trailer with electric brakes. I will hook it up again without the truck running and see what the DIC indicates. Supposedly one 12 volt bulb to ground on the trailer brake pin is enough to look like a trailer.

May try it if needed.

tks

Re: 2015 3/4 w/traler package

I found this on another forum...

Quote:
is trailer brakes elec over hydraulic? if so you need to hang a electric break magnet from ground to the breaks wiring on the trailer,(did so in my terminal box and stuck magnet it there as well) this style of system does not draw enough power not running/breaks applied to make the truck think there is trailer actually there. main reason i believe is because its a scr driven system not an old analog style (went through this myself for three or four days along with multiple calls around the country trying to find out wth to do)

Re: 2015 3/4 w/traler package

No hydraulics -- just magnets electric. I hooked to my 2006 1/2 ton today and the trailer brakes function correctly hauling a 2001 s10 home in the rain. Next time I hook up to the duramax not running I will see if it sees the trailer. If not I will attempt a test with a 12 lamp.

I went dumb earlier when I asked if the manual button moved with the foot pedal but I know that only works if actually hooked into the hydraulic --like the old kelsey hayes types.
