Question Speedo Problem

The speedo on my 69 C10 P/U is apparently off. It reads 70 mph
when I'm doing about 50-55 mph. One time I noticed it was reading 15 mph when I was stopped at a red light!

Should I assume that the speedo is bad or could this be a cable
problem or a speedo gear problem?

Thanks!
Jim M.

If the tire size was changed that would throw it off, but I don't know how much though.
Mine doesn't move until I get to 10 or 15 mph, but its dead on accurate after that.

I would start with the speedo head, a bum cable or incorrect gears wouldn't give you a reading while sittin still.

May those who love us, love us, any of those who do not love us, may God turn their hearts.
And if God is unable to turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we may know them by their limping.

A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.
