Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

My order from brother came in over the weekend but I wasnt at the shop to pick it up till today so tonight I was like a kid in the candy store opening everything and playing with new parts!!!! Got the new dash with tach installed....and yes I know not a manual truck so no need for a tach but I like it. Since my gauge cluster has the choke delete I swapped covers and I like tge weathered look with the new gauges. Also ordered new arm rests, dash pad and sun visors (back ordered). I chose saddle and was kinda disapointed when it showed up cause I was thinking more baseball glove from the pictures and it is for sure just brown. But with the door panels not being painted they dont look bad at all. Mind you this is all garage light I could really hate it once she hits the sun. Anyways I snapped a few photos.

Got started putting the front end on too. Feeling really good about the project again. Still a bunch to do but seeing things go on helps.

Are you going to use the PCV from the back of the block? and use the breather from the front oil fill tube???

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

Came home from work today and greased up the bearings to install the rotors then bolt everything up and put it on the ground. Might end up changing the front springs since they have to settle and there is no motor or front clip. The stupid sway bar is giving me hell but was cool to see the ole girl low again.

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

Well as more things get rebuilt they get finished and put on. Here are some more updates. Also motor change again as I got a 383 stroker short block. It is at the machine shop currently getting checked and having rings sized and a new cam installed. This thing is going to rip! Got the 200r4 rebuilt to handle the hp and torque. Rebuilt the rearend and added 3.42 posi. Needed new axles and has all new bearings. From tip to tail it is all brand new underneath now.

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

I had already purchased a bolt in C-notch before I got my big kid welder at the house so I didn't think I would be able to build my own. So since I had it I installed it and now need to weld it up. Got the wheels powder coated and I had 15x10 steel rims that I also got powder coated but still on the fence as to which ones Ill end up using.

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

Woohooo got her on all fours last night!!! Was to late to push her outside, need to hook up all the steering first anyways but got to see her on the rollers!! Way pumped can wait to get the motor back from the machine shop and start putting it together. Starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel....well more like a dim match but there is light.

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

So since the 383 stroker block is in machine shop jail right now I decided to put the 283 block in the rails so I van build the exhaust and run all the fuel lines and wires. That way when the block is done I can just bolt it right up. So excited to see a motor back in the frame rails and floor space in the garage. Space is a premium.

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

With Christmas and overtime again havent had much time during the holidays...or extra money to spend on the ole' girl. Bolted on a few parts to get mock up and just to see. Also been painting a few things. Nothing really crazy just behind and underneath. Things you will never see but I know.

Re: Goldie gets her proper day in the sun /1968 slant nose

Well Christmas and overtime came a went then kids birthday and family visits. I finnaly got the other car out of my garage so I could make it just the truck and a usable space to finish Goldie. Got the motor out of machine shop jail. Ended up replacing and doing more work than thought...isnt that how it always is when a motor is at the machine shop. Either way I have it all home need to get a few small things then slap it together. Mostly just made room recently so I could get back to it. This was suppose to be a quick project hahahah

Nice garage, very tidy. Looks like a great space to get things done in.
