New member... new project...need info plz

Im new on here so be gentle with me ...lol..... This is my new project its a 1968, C-50, with a 366 engine and a 4 speed tranny and a 2 speed axle.....it has a 189 in. wheelbase and had a PTO but was taken off at some point. The drive is still attached to the transmission though. Ive seen and read so many great ideas on this site...i need a right quarter panel tho .....some cancer.... Is there any way to replace the 5 cab lights with originals????and also i'm thinking about fabricating the hood and fenders together to make a tilt forward front hood has any one did that on this body style? What ratio rear end would this have? Its awful slow.....lol...thx

Re: New member... new project...need info plz

It's a little hard to tell in the picture but the Cab Lights do look like the original type Yankee 77's that GM put on many of their trucks, unless you are talking about the "Fireman's Hat" type, which in that case you will need to change out all or part of the cab roof.

We would also need to see a picture of your sheet metal problem, but many of the pick-up truck replacement panels will work.

I've seen Tilt's in pictures, but it will take a fair amount of work to accomplish it.

I would have to break out my books to check on the rear Ratio, but you're right, it's probably pretty low.

Welcome to the site, by the way.

Thanks for the kind words, that was my first C50 (72) and I rebuilt the stock brakes. It started out as a 26' box truck.

I sold it and I am working on my second C50 (67) and replaced the rear frame from a TopKick with Disk Brakes and a better ratio. This one was a grain truck.
Currently looking for a P30 front disk brake axle.

Re: New member... new project...need info plz

Looks like that's the plan. Cut out the center and move spring mount holes. I am going to run a 3/8 plate from side to side to make sure I have enough area to drill U bolt holes for the outside ones.
thanks!

Cool looking truck!

I too just started a project with a 72 C40 wrecker.

As far as your cab lights, search the brand "Truck Lite" model 1313A.

Looking good.

Love how you get the Small Back Glass with the Mediums (even though this one is a '67).

I agree, my 72 C50 had the small back glass but had side markers too.
Love it.
