Is this die cast worth this much?

Is this Johnny Lightning 68 worth this much. I have one and if it is bringing this kind of $ then I may have to let mine go lol. http://www.ebay.com/itm/68-chevy-pic...item41879e89b5

Re: Is this die cast worth this much?

I'd watch and see if it sells. I personally wouldn't pay anything like that for a diecast but there are buyers for everything.

Re: Is this die cast worth this much?

what people ask for and what they get can be totally different, check similar listings to see what they sold for, you might be surprised if you start low it could bring big money???

Re: Is this die cast worth this much?

I have very few "collectible" die cast, hot wheels etc. But I do have a two year old grand son, and he loves cars. I've been slowly taking my toy cars out of the original packaging and giving them to him to play with. IMO, my stuff will never be worth the amount of money I would get for them compared to the amount of smiles he and I get sliding these things around on the floor =)

GRANDKIDS! The perfect excuse for an old fart to get on the floor and play with toy cars and train sets without anyone caring if you're losing it or not.

Re: Is this die cast worth this much?

That's a 1:18 scale which is rarer than the 1:24 but still not that rare. I think the $80 range is probably about right. Seems like I saw them for about $70 a couple of years ago.
That said, the last time I looked there is a Hot Wheels that sold for $80,000. (I was off by 8000, here's a link http://www.hobbyhub360.com/index.php...els-cars-7945/) It's a first issue VW surfer bus with surf boards. It was released (that is the high$$$ one) and determined that the surfboards were a choking hazard, so only a few were ever released and only one is known to exist in pristine condition. So much pristine that the vid I saw showed them handling it with cotton gloves. Now there is no way I would pay that for it but someone did.
