engine bay wiring

i have a loom of wiring that i have no clue where it goes and ihavent found a very helpful diagram yet. basically i have a heavy red and pink, a small guage pink and a few other small ones, im assuming ones for starter, choke, and probably my guages just need to know whats what because i dont need any of the guage ones.

Re: engine bay wiring

At first I thought it was the TCS harness (transmission controlled spark) an emission system, but the wiring colors don't match. It might be the harness for the AC if you have or had one.

Re: engine bay wiring

A heavy gauge red indicates the main AC harness feed but could also be from the alt or firewall junction. A heavy gauge pink is HEI BAT feed and the smaller gauge pink if it has a black stripe is typically the fuel tank level sensor feed-assuming this is all under hood wiring.

Re: engine bay wiring

Looks like a red alt. wire (plug), red alt. main charge lead, white Ign sw. alt. lead, yellow looks like its scabbed in for electric choke? Black wire not sure. Looks like there's been a few mods to the OEM harness to me. There is a yellow lead that goes to the blower motor resistor on AC delete trucks 73-80....possibly the PO used that for the choke?

Re: engine bay wiring

my alt is already plugged in minus the lead to the battery, white would go where then? the starter?

yellow i assumed was choke but i could be wrong,

what about the elctrical taped pink wire?

thick red goes to alternator as well?

black i have no clue either when i get a battery tapped in i was gonna see if it has power to it otherwise ill ground it or tape it off.

and yea obviously the previous owners had their way with it just trying to figure it all out for myself now
