Well,the motor is in so I put the headers on and I got out a front drivshaft and set it in place to check clearance.The header on the passenger side is about 1"-2" from the driveshaft.Do you think that's to close? If I had a camera I would take a pic and show how close the driveshaft is to the header but I dont have a camera..I think it seems too close.

Seems awlfully close. I can look at mine tonight and see. Mine on the passenger side is very close to the rear spring hanger bolt.

Thanks,I went out and looked on the 79 K10 because I took it to the parts stash to see the damage from the limb that fell in the storm (limb bent the roll bar I had sitting outside,guess I wont use it now).The headers are close to the driveshaft but I believe they are farther away then on the 71.The 71 has about 1" of clearance from the driveshaft,and 1" clearance on the other side from the spring shackle.

If you get your springs compressed do you think it will hit - if not I wouldn't think there should be any concern. My driveshaft on my 69 K20 with the BBC is fairly close, probably 1 1/2 to 2" and it causes me no problems so far.

It will be close.Whether it does or not...probably not for what it will be used for.My brother in law said when I'm flexing the frame while driving in a dtich it will hit.I laughed and said it wont be going through any ditches with 3:73 open carriers.

Thats good to know.Now I just have to figure how I'm gonna run the exhaust.It looks if I run above the transfer case it will be close.I might have to run it under the crossmember.

The problems all around with headers. Those are for hot rods not 4x4's. Unless they are monster mud runners, I stay with the stock style manifolds. Much easier to work with.

Mine are really simple and go over the crossmember. Two bends basically and then straight to the back of the cab.
