87 Chevy 1 Ton *CLEVELAND*

Hey guys,

This won't necessarily be a "build" by most peoples standards but the progression and problems experienced with my mud toy.

It's the TBI 454 motor with the 4 speed. I bought it in late 2013 from a guy who was using it as a mud pit racing truck.

First thing I did was add O2 sensors and exhaust/mufflers since it was straight headers when I got it. Also welded up the rear diff since it's an off road only truck. A buddy helped me make some shackles in the rear to keep the lift but allowed us to get rid of the blocks.

I had dual tanks and recently neither tank would work. One was punctured so I dropped them both and combined parts to have one good tank/sending unit setup. I then mounted the tank in the bed so I'd have no worries of more offroading tank punctures. After getting the fuel going the truck still wouldn't start so I found out my distributor was bad so no power to the coil so no spark or injectors firing. New distributor and it was back running.

Always had issues with tires popping off the beads of my 16.5 x 15 wheels so I found some old junk yard 16" chevy wheels and put 37" super swamper tsl's on. Get to try them out for the first time in a couple weeks!

Also made a battery tray mount because my factory tray was rusted thru and the battery was being held down by bungee cords

The best part....pictures over the years:
