In Cab Fuel Tank. What to do with it?

Since there are alot of us replacing the incab tank with chassis mount ones, what has everyone done with the old tanks?

What plans do you have for yours? Its a shame to toss them out.

I cut the neck off ,measure and weld a plate to the inside , install an ignition cut off switch , and use a locking gas cap , you can flare the inside edge and seal it in place with windshield urethane sealer . Keeps the original look and a locked hidden ignition cut off that no one will find .

I gave mine away to another truck guy who needed one. Mine was in good shape, and his was rusted out.

Post it for free pickup on CL. "Curb alert"
I do this with old appliances customers don't want on my kitchen renovations.
Working or not they don't last more than 2 hours on the curb

Re: In Cab Fuel Tank. What to do with it?

Post it up for sale.
I've had a lot of guys call me looking for gas tanks.
When guys do a cab swap they are often lost or chucked out so there is always someone looking for one it seems.

Re: In Cab Fuel Tank. What to do with it?

I have mine posted for someone to reuse, no one called for over 6 months. The ad is still in place, I would really like for it to be repurposed to a truc. I would also be okay with a project if it was original.

Unless local, I believe shipping is the problem, unless you flush the fuel smell out. Then size becomes an issue.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Originals rust, so those people need tanks. They have a purpose, use, and demand. Otherwise replacements wouldn't be reproduced. I keep a spare

I have seen where someone left it in place and cut a bunch of speaker holes in it and mounted speakers there. Hey, it's something different.

That is recycling. Not sure if it would sound good.
