4l80e converter bolt up

Just got 4l80e out of donor truck. Good news its re-manufactured(GM),guess good. I knew converter pattern was 6 bolt where as 454 In Panel is three bolt. Question any reason that bolting to just the three will not work just fine? Same pattern for 3 as 454 flywheel and heck thousands out there with 3 bolts. Heck my FED with 1500 hp is bolted to flywheel with 3 7/16 bolts as is most drag cars.

Re: 4l80e converter bolt up

I don't see any problem.

A lot of truck TH400's had 6 bolts while cars had 3

Re: 4l80e converter bolt up

The pattern is already on the flexplate, you can use 3 or 6

Re: 4l80e converter bolt up

My flex plates have two patterns one wider than other.Wider works for 3.Cool I did not see reason, but extra input rarely hurts.
