Cool Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

I'd buy a mansion. Then I'd take the truck to the airport and buy a Lear jet. Then take the truck to the RV lot and buy the best one there. Then I'd go to the dock and buy a yacht. Then I'd pull the yacht with the RV to the mansion Then I'd take the C-10 and my new trophy wife on a long vacation. Am I missing anything?

Just on small thing you missed, the new trophy wife will need to be bagged too.

IF I had the money----
Id get someone else to cut it and buff it after I finish with the paint-- Oh wait, I am getting someone to help me with that!

Well then, Since my truck is currently totally disassembled---Id pay someone to put it all back together------instead of me spending the next 6 months getting it back together and running.

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

I would continue with what I'm building now but would no longer have to worry about the paint and body. I would be able to pay someone to do it for me oh yeah and I would probably put in a supercharged LS

For me, the building it the fun, I never really finish projects, I'm always upgrading and improving. Once I get to a point where I can't think of anything to do to it, it has to go.

If I had the money, I'd quit my job so I can actually work on my truck

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

I squirm when I hear the term "Resto-Mod" but I think that's the term that best represents what I would do. I would "restore" it taking great liberties using the best that GM used in the 67-72 trucks...and tweak them.

I'd have body gaps that rivaled any of the finest Germans and Italians, the stock color (506 Medium Blue Poly) but layers of glass-like clear so that it looks like its still wet and you can reach your arm up to your elbow in it. I'd want an interior that from a quick glance looked like a very nice Stock interior but a quick tour would show you that its anything but stock. I've thought about every motor GM has offered and I think I would base mine off the L88 tri power motors. The bed wood would be as nice as the paint. I like the Birdseye Maple, Leopard and Lace that one of the bigger bed wood companies offer, capped off with polished, hidden bolt skid strips. I'd top it off with a beautiful 20/22 wheel package. Not sure which one but you get the idea. Not sure if I'd bag it or be happy with a 5/7 drop. 5/7s look very nice.

Then I'd take it to a car show so that I could hear someone grumble about an over-restored, lowered C10 with big wheels on it.

I'm not sure if I loved that write up because it reflects my dreams, or if I loved it because it was so well written.....But I will say this: It was like reading a (good) dirty book.

For me, I'd do a semi-dark, yet deeply "grainy", wood bed kit over the steel bed (I have a kind of nice, but funny wood bed floor on there now), go with a carbon fiber tonneau
that has an electric opener, and pretty up a 383 (3" exh)/700r4/3.73 combo. Drilled and slotted rear disks to match my front disks would be nice, too.

Oh, yeah. I'd have a stepper bed to match my Fleet...Change 'em up when I felt like it.

But, instead, I'm lucky to enjoy driving what I have right now.

Sorry I was watching Motorweek and reading one of those books while I was typing!

That is what I would do with my truck given the chance. Details, details, details but at the same time not so overly done that each detail screams at you. Truthfully, I WOULD want you to think it was an overly restored, lowered and on big wheels C10. I would incorporate such things as candy orange instead of Chevy orange on the motor and leather instead of vinyl in the interior. I agree with a darker stain, especially with the 506 Blue. It would definitely be a Driver too! I would want to enjoy it as much as possible...this is a fantasy right?

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

air bag the front and rear, box the frame, drop in a big block, go to a 5 speed manual, custom interior, slick paint job, add a/c and drive the wheels off of it! oh and then buy a k20 and start working on that!!

Re: If you had the money what would you do to your truck?

I would drive it 24/7 and ditch my daily driver.

Seriously, that's it! Gas is so expensive and these trucks don't get good gas mileage.

If I had the money.... I would go see Dr. Emmett Lathrop Brown, aka Doc Brown, and use his time machine to travel back the the exact time my truck was delivered to the dealer. Then I would buy my truck brand new and bring it... well... back to the future....
