Re: Sear your eyeballs red paint

It seems, from what I see and hear, that Viper Red is the current red of reds. It used to be Porche Red before Vipers. That bright red upholstery seen in 67-72 era trucks is sure fire bright red

I just googled Trucks painted Torch red, got a lot of 67-72 trucks. Sport trucks article, and various other colors and combinations thrown in.

Loving the Model A!!
Duece grille and fenders? The SBC is great for every day, but a 59AB would sound better.

Re: Sear your eyeballs red paint

I considered the body paint section first. I took a look over there to see if it was a happenin place haha!

From the looks of things I was thinking this would be a better shot. Even though this part of the board has been wallowing for awhile.

So far the listed colors are ones Ive already taken note of. I was just hoping there was something even more eye searing than these.

I think I read something about body guys using red toner, but not being a paint or body guy I had no idea what they were talking about.

Thank you. I would love to put a flathead in it, and make it more of a traditional rod, But $$$$$ stops me.

I actually like the Victory Red better, My Viper Red looks kind of Orange.

Question for the Real Painters on here. A friend of mine suggested I paint a white base coat before painting Orange on my Truck. Would Red react like that because it made the Orange on his POP in the Sunlight.

Red pigments are weak.. It needs a good base for the best color.

Re: Sear your eyeballs red paint

I know how many coats will depend on final colour. I have heard a few old guys say that bright yellow base under red will make it pop but I think I've sprayed red only a handful of times and haven't tried it

I am a firm believer in White primer under Red paint. Some people poo-poo it but I think it makes a difference in the outcome. Here is my '39 Ford Coupe painted Matrix Cherry Red and the Red/White '71 Chevy truck. The Red on the truck was called "Safety Maintenance Red" and the White is '56 Chevy "India Ivory".

The new f150 has a very bright red, loud enough on the eyeballs I took a second look at it.

Saw a 2016 Dodge Dart today, it was a really nice red. Turns out it was a rental so the driver didn't know anything about it.

Could this be it? Kind of hard to tell by the picture, but it's the best I could find.

It's called Redline Red 2 Coat Pearl.
