Question on ID of differential

I have a 72 Cheyenne that I am trying to determine if the rear axle is marketable, only info I have is frm the decal on the glove box, it states "positive lok" but not the ratio...is this the same as Positrack? If so can anyone give me an approximate pricing guesstimate? thanks, bob

well, being a big block and a 3/4 ton, you should probably have a dana with the 3.54 gear ratio.
if you can prove that it is actually worth a little bit of coin.
Bummer I'm not in Tx anymore. From your Zip code, you look to be fairly close to the ft hood area too. (76544)

looking at your option sheet a little closer, there are some more desirable parts on there. (you sound like you may be parting it out?)
The tilt is good for some good cash...esp if you put it on e-bay.
if in good shape, the cheyenne/20 badges are a money maker since they aren't in repro.
Naturally the 402 is worth a couple bucks..but the acc prackets and pullies (as a complete set) may well be worth more than the engine. (!!!)
The aux battery tray...I sold 2 of them at 50 bucks each on here, probably woulda gotten more on e-bay.

nice option list...odd seeing a/c and a slider installed. 26 all told...cool.

Longhorn Man is right, if the truck hasn't been molested, it will have a 3.54 coil sprung dana 60 full floater, with optional Power Lock posi (not an actual locker, despite its name). they are worth some cash.

Oh yeah, and if the tool box is in decent shape, it is worth a few bucks as well.

thanks guys, I am parting it out, had the whole thing up for $350 but didn't have any takers, mainly because I couldn't figure out how to post pics until I read the excellent tutorial by moneyguru on this website.

I am about 65miles SW of Houston off US 59 going to Victoria.

Sold the tilt column for $200, have the outer and inner grille listed no ebay at present with some various parts on the 67-72 parts board, with some people asking about some more specific parts, when I find them will get in touch with them again...I got the truck in boxes and pieces all disassembled, it was to be a restoration project but previous owner was deceased due to accident, bought all from widow and I don't know too much about this...by "a little bit of coin" does that mean around $100 or so? I would really like to sell the rolling frame to someone who wants the power lock otherwise I will be stuck with the remainder in my yard and wife says it has to go!

The 402 was rebuilt, never ran, bored .60 with cam and performance heads, headers, rebuilt turbo 400 tranny, put all that in my 79 swb GMC Sierra, selling the rest. It is all stuffed in my shop and need the room back, just for kicks will try to post a pic or two:

Are there any numbers on the axle anywhere that I can use to trace it down and find out what it is...where do I look? Is the alternative to open it up? If so, what do I look for. thanks again. bob

the most full proof way of checking the rear is to just pop the cover off and count the teeth
