Re: Who likes cab lights??

I used to like them more. Now, if it comes with them, fine, but there's no way I'd cut holes for rain to get in, or rust to start.

That's a nice truck!

I think 71-72 didn't have the raised metal areas in the roof for the clearance lights. Mine doesn't but its a truck with many fathers...

Re: Who likes cab lights??

i love cab lights!! i do beleive they have to be on the right truck though, and the right style lights. i have TSC ones on the K20, and a set of factory ones for my 79 and 89.. i dont really know what type are on the wrecker, im guessing factory

i think your truck would look great with them, by the way

Re: Who likes cab lights??

I think they look right at home on a K/20.They enhance their proud bold good looks. It`s a truck thing, like real mirrors.I love the look of sport mirrors(I call`em car mirrors),but they don`t belong on a K/20.I tell you what,I`ve run them on most of my K/20-30s and have noticed that people tend to not yank out in front of you at night. It makes them think twice about jumping out in front of a big rig.By the time they know it`s just a pickup it`s too late to pull out.I bought a cab light cab to use on one of my K/20s when I restored one. Now,it`s down to that going on my shortbed 4wd project. In a way I don`t think that`ll look right. But,I am building it into a K/30.So,I guess it`ll look alright.I just wanted it to be a short Stepside 4wd that`s built tough underneath, not a sawed-off K/20 or 30.I`m picky about details like that.
I think they`re a nice touch on a K/20.

I agree that they look good on a K20. 2wd trucks should not have them as they would look goofy as mentioned above.

I'm on the fence... some trucks look good with them, and some don't. I'd just hate to see you drill into that cab!

Be sure to post pics after you decide.

Re: Who likes cab lights??

They look absolutely the best on deluxe 2-tone K/20s,IMO.Oh...that`s exactly what you have.Whadaya know?
Maybe you could get a photoshopper to hook you up.Maybe they could even put the mouldings and hubcaps on.Is that possible?

Re: Who likes cab lights??

Since you would be drilling holes.... have you ever considered the new dually looking cab lights.... LMC has a set to fit the truck and look current with the 2 outside cab lights and the middle big one?? I just hate to see you add original ones on there if you don't have the correct dimples.... they would look out of place and probably not seal good. I like it the way it is, but I also like the new current style for something different yet look really good as well. I don't like how most of the aftermarket tear shaped clearance lights look with the big bulky chrome on it. They don't need to take away from the truck. My 2 cents Trevor

Re: Who likes cab lights??

The fact is they look awesome on certain trucks. I specifivally want a one ton just so I can have cab lights. Is that retarded or what. They look awesome on duallies, but They look good on this one ton even w/out dually's. Both of these are for sale by board members.

Re: Who likes cab lights??

If your worried about rust from the holes of drilling them in; I've heard (havent done this) if you put a small amount of clear fingernail polish around the holes that it seals the area where rust may start, just like paint.

I have never really liked them, but Special-K has some good points. I think they look good on that tow-truck, though.

I agree have seen this done on motorcycles and no rust, they used clear nail polish.

I think it would look good with the cab lights!
