Re: Weird factory options??????

The clock looks like the picture, is there anymore info in the brochure or just the small blurb? Where did you find the clock? It looks like a good match!

Re: Weird factory options??????

thats listed under accessories... not options. You could get sunglasses that said GMC on the arms through the accessory catalogs too, but it wasn't an option.

Re: Weird factory options??????

I never said it was i am just providing evidence that they did exist to some degree. im sure it wouldn't have been listed on the SPID. I am not even sure that mine would be the correct one but it looks close to the one in the picture. I cant find any Canadian literature that says that the compass was available in Canada either.

Re: Weird factory options??????

So it was an accessory that was installed in the gauge cluster at the factory on the assembly line. I got it.

Re: Weird factory options??????

i guess I made the assumption that you had confused options and accesories... since you were showing accessories on an option thread.
It's a common confusion for a lotta ppl, i just figured you were one of them. my bad.

Re: Weird factory options??????

I also have a clock that looks like that , The one I have mounts on top of the dash , I also have a tachometer that mounts on top of the dash , they were accesories

The number scale on the tach I have has been faded from setting up on the dash of a truck, When i wnet to a local swapmeet I found a brand new face ( what were the chances of that happening) , that is what is taped to the bottom, A friend of mine gave me the tach because the needle didnt move, after opening the case the needle freed up, I tink the case had warped ever so slightly because after I put it back together it moved freely, I havent tried it to see if it works tho. I have had it for about 25 years too. Only one I have ever seen in person, I have read about them though, option for gm's 67- 70 ???? I think

I had a 68 half ton years ago that had them too. I don't know if they are rare but it was listed on the spid.

Re: Weird factory options??????

my dad's 72 burb c10 had the 1/2 leaf overloads. he replaced the rear coils with 3/4 ton units and those ugly overload units became superfluous!

I think the 1/2 leaf overloads were fairly common. At least i have seen quite a few up here.

Re: Weird factory options??????

Since someone mentioned it earlier - '68 on up had shoulder harness mount points, has anyone every seen a truck with factory shoulder harnesses? Or was it even an option...

Interesting - I went to a boneyard out in CA while I was there for work and saw a '67 small window without the shoulder mounts. Maybe only the big window cabs have them?

Re: Weird factory options??????

If I read the question right, yes the belts were an option.I've had quite a few myself.I just saw a '68 Longhorn 50th anniversary with them last month.I can't say for sure about '67s.They did have the earlier type belts.I'll have to look for the mounts when I see '67s now.

I knew the 1/2 leaf overload springs for coil rears was pretty common.I never knew they were considered ugly, though .I guess I don't lay under trucks enough. But,I never thought any were all that pretty under there.I'm do find the HO52 rear kind of attractive, all smooth round
