Re: The end of an era........

Just be sure to stay around i have found some inspiration from the "style" of truck you built no better reason to sell a truck or anything else if it for the family, your a good man even though i don't know you i can see the "good fruit" that you bare by wanting to have all your family included with you

Doug, hate to see your truck go...I've never been much on 2 wheel drives but yours was one of my favorites! I know what ever you end up with will be done Right!

Re: The end of an era........

As stated many times above my friend, your how-to threads have helped many further their projects, and the "model" used, well, what can I say... what a rear.

I couldn't believe it when I first received word that you sold your truck, but sure enough it was true; luckily, a few of us were fortunate enough to see it before it left for MN. You have always been a standup guy and your family has always come first. Glad to hear you will be sticking around, and with all the assistance this board offers, it won't be long before you find you next project.

Congrats on building a beautiful stepper, and congrats on the sale!

Now... for a few last pictures to remember her by...

Re: The end of an era........

Good luck. I know before long I will have to let mine go, too. I want someone to get it that can afford to finish it. Could have sold it but the guy wanted to part it out. After 10 years, I want it finished.

Congratulation on your next son!!!!!! my sons name is also Jackson...

as far as the truck we are just the builders, care takers then we move them to the next person. Many times I have thought about selling mine but I want to give it to Jackson when he turns 16 so I will store it keep it at home or at my shop but I am not selling it for now.

Good luck on your next endeavor (Blazer) lol

Re: The end of an era........

I have noticed that there are a lot more trucks of our era on craigslist in this area in the last 6 months, before that it was rare to see any.

Unfortunately the economy and life is catching up with a lot of us, I have thought about selling mine at times. I guess I will hang on to them for a while longer and see how things goes.

Good luck raising your kids, enjoy them while they are growing up.

Things....things.......they are just things!

My wife and I like to watch "Extreme Makeover: Home Addition" to keep us grounded. Make us realize we really don't have problems. I got out of hot rodding for 15 years and recently broke that streak. As you can tell from my Avatar, my little boy is my world. How fortunate that you will have 2 little guys to hand you the right tool down the road!!!

Doug we're all gonna miss it. Sniff. However there are a lot of other GM products you could end up in just as cool.

Re: The end of an era........

I am seriously overwhelmed by you guys. thank you for being my second family. words can't explain.......

the real test came yesterday when my son and I walked out to the garage. he usually makes a bee line to the passenger side door of the truck and wants in. this time, when we went to the garage, he looks around, shrugs his shoulders, and said "all gone"? I said yep. then he said, "okay, can we go look for bugs?"

then it hit me, things are just that. things.

now on to finding a family friendly land yacht that I can "massage" a bit!

Looks like your plan is coming together. I would just say to make sure you hold out til you really find something you are happy with as a replacement.

Re: The end of an era........

Wow. This was a surprise but you made the right call. There will always be other trucks and projects, but the little ones are only there for a short time. My littlest one just turned 23 and moved to California. It went by way too fast.
Well, my truck went to a nice guy up in Minnesota too. Maybe we'll see both of them some time at the Des Moines Goodguys show. Hang in there Doug. Now there's at least two of us lurking around on this site biding our time until the next one comes along.

Re: The end of an era........

I am really sorry to see it go. I was the one who asked him to go look at it for me! Then he calls and says he is going to buy it! Of course, I was just doing a little window dreaming at the time! What a great ride that was and is. Great to have these era trucks in the family because they kept he and I calling and working togather on little projects. But this weekend, he will have to ride with me to the truck nats, in my finished 1970 Blazer!

Re: The end of an era........

That is actually how I got my "2nd Chance" when I got my 72 GMC Short/Fleet in April 09!
I had to sell my beloved 67 C-10 in February 05 for Financial reasons,
and lost about $5K.
Then in Jan 2009, I wanted another 67-72 Chevy/GMC again.
I had a 1996 2 Door Chevy Tahoe 4X4 with 189K miles and Reverse was going out in it.
I put an ad in the local Craigs List for a trade.
This guy had rhe 72, but he needed something better/more reliable for his Wife/Kids.

Did a STRAIGHT TRADE for my 72 GMC Short/Fleet for the Tahoe, and I couldn't be happier.
