My father-in-law is pulling in the driveway right now and we're leaving to go pick up my truck at the NADC. I'll take tons of pics when I get it home this afternoon.

Okay guys here we go my entire life summed up in paragraph. I didn't get the truck back I went down there with a trailer to pick it up. Several problems occurred today. A couple of weeks ago they had to redo the flames on both doors because when they cut the flames out they went down to far into the body. Well, they hadn't wet sanded the doors and reshot them with clear. There is a lip on all the flames that needs to be sanded down.
Second and most IMPORTANT If you will look at the pic below you will see something that I should have seen and questioned but did not. My door lock holes are GONE! Shaved over. I kind of need them so they are going to have to redrill them. There were several other things to take care of. One of the instructors told me to make a list of things and they would take care of them. The worst part is that the truck would not fit on the trailer so I called a local garage here in town and he told me he would come down and pick it up for me with his wrecker. My father-in-law left and I stayed waiting on the wrecker. This is when I realized the door holes were gone. Nice time. I had to call and cancel the wrecker and call my father-in-law and ask him to come back and pick me up. EGG ALL OVER MY FACE ON THIS ONE. I give up on making any predictions on when I'll get it back. I definitely can't take it to Pigeon Forge in 2 weeks now for sure. It's been down there since JULY so I'm just anxious. I was going to delete this thread out of embarassment, but figured I'd explain myself. NADC is the Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, TN

you should just put keyless locks in, then you wouldnt have to put new door locks on.

I agree...I am of the younger generation that likes the shaved look anyways.
I think it looks awesome without the door lock holes <shrug> Ya know, I hated hearing this when I was younger....because I think my dad always loved to tell me when I didn't want to hear it. I have always wanted the chance to get to say it to someone...so hear ya go... "patience is a virtue, great things come to those who wait"... I have the gun, if you want to shoot my dad.... "Thanks DaD" seriously though...it will be worth the wait

i have only ever heard bad things about NADC...there was a guy up here trieing to recruit me and a couple others...it was like 37000 plus housing to go there and they said the school isnt that good.

Man, sorry to hear about that one. My truck is so ugly that I woudn't worry about the locks because I'd never lock it. I locked it one time a few weeks ago when I went downtown, parked on the street and there were people looking at the truck as I parked. I figured they didn't need an invitation to steal the speakers on the floor of the truck in plain veiw.

There is nothing to being embarassed about, just a typical SNAFU. I'm sure your discouraged but relax it will all turn out just fine. As far as I'm concerned your miles ahead of most of us and you WILL be driving it this summer!
I think those of us who have followed your progress will enjoy your victory along with you. Lord knows it's hard to wait!

I've had a keyless entry system before on my 69 and I didn't care for it. I wouldn't have had a problem with going with the shaved look if everything had been shaved (door handles, sidemarkers). They shaved the back light above the back window and the antenna hole also without asking me. The back light is fine by me, hell it's one more piece I don't have to replace. Now the antenna, well I just bought one of the hidden antenna kits last week to replace it.
I think the hole problem was back in August we had talked about shaving the door handles, but $200 for an Autoloc door popper kit turned me off and the nightmare stories I read on here about people having to break their glass. I figured $40 for a new set of door handles was better and more cost effective. I'm not sure what you call it, but I'll try to describe it. The back part of the cab on the roof where it's rounded? I'm not sure what that looked like before but they smoothed the driver's side but didn't smooth the passenger side. So that's one thing that will probably be a big setback. Luv-that's the sentiment that I had to leave there with. As much as I wanted just to take it home and try to do all the crap myself(and make it worse) I figured that I'd be mad at myself for taking it away from people who at least have the knowledge to fix it , unlike myelf. Looks like that will be a sweet ruck when its done... It looks pretty good with just the door handle's and no lock's never thought I would say that..
