Option U98 Aux fuse box

Has anyone seen or have (pictures pleaseif you have) option U98 on their trucks? Have more of a big truck option? The "out in the shop" list has it on there as well. I'm looking for some added outlets and if this is stock it's exactly what I'm looking for

Re: Option U98 Aux fuse box

Not a fuse box but a power junction I believe. I did find a picture of 1. What was this intended for and how was it wired up?

Nobody has seen this or had it on a past truck?

Re: Option U98 Aux fuse box

Wow. I though for sure some of you long timers on this board could school me on this option but it might be just that uncommon I guess. I'm just curious as to why someone would need power in this location? I'm lucky to have found a photo of it.

Re: Option U98 Aux fuse box

I'm just guessing here, but I think it was probably intended for dealer- or owner-added accessories.

You might try reposting on the Heavy Haulers section of the board. One of the big truck guys may have some information.
Good luck.

Re: Option U98 Aux fuse box

I might have to do that. I've researched alot of odd things these trucks came with and this one seems really uncommon. Usually I can't find a photo of it before I get a hit but this time I found a photo .

Re: Option U98 Aux fuse box

Handy spot to provide power to an electric seat. I have a '69 Thunderbird bench bottom/bucket back powered seat in my '68 C/10. A junction box at that position would only need a 6 - 9'' lead to feed it. Mine's disconnected because it has a 30 amp draw and has caused a couple of fuseable links to melt. Was fun years ago to trim seat angle on long runs to ease acellerator calf-cramps.
Did the 40-50-60 series have optioned power seats?

Unsure myself but I'd guess these saw use in fleet rigs such as a Suburban ambulance or a K20 brush truck to service the extra electrical necessities required for the job.

Re: Option U98 Aux fuse box

I know its a couple years late but I just ran into this label and thought I would share, I've never seen one with U98 on it. Might help somebody someday.

Re: Option U98 Aux fuse box

I’d bet it’s an option for up fitter power. Pretty much what Pete already said.
