saving a 1966 c10
i wish it was in better shape. but if it was, i wouldnt have all these stupid costly ideas in my head that will make it way cooler. but i cant decide half of the stuff. me and a friend are ripping cab apart and putting smooth firewall and redoing floors. then im putting all new inner fenders and core. the rest is staying the way nature made it, but im undecided. ive got a dual wheel 1 ton rearend and 8 lug 1 ton front. or i can get the 5 lug stuff from my 64 and tubb this one. also got a big block w 400 turbo. and i DO NOT want to build two. way outta budget. im also looking into a right side drive idea since firewall will be blank anyway so why not. gotta cut all the pedal brackets off and going w better brakes so its just some more thought into doing it. also idk if i want to go w 454 or rebuild the 250. got everything payed for just need to make up my mind and get going on it

Welcome aboard! If that was me I'd be hopping up the 250 a little and looking at a turbo. 8 PSI makes all the difference.

I thought a little about that too because it would be simple to run the exhaust to turbo and theres plenty of room. but then id need some sort of blow thru carb or turbo plate and those sort of things. tap oil pan is easy oil sending is easy. im leaning toward keepin the 250 because itl b very drive-able. alot harder to justify rolling around in a 454 getting 8mpg. it would sit alot more.

You'd get better mileage for sure. haha There are some cheap and simple mods you can do. You mentioned rebuilding, Summit Racing sells stock type pistons that will help bump the compression up. Also shaving the head helps to. All depends on what your looking for. Those 250's can make some decent power. I did a 292 and it's backed by a 5 speed. Will get decent mileage and make great power.

Has this Truck been in Ohio all of its life? it sure looks like it has. Do some surfing on this site and you can find all kinds of ideals for the firewall. Keep going it will get better. Ray

got another one. already had frame shortened really nice job too. and 5 lug swap with disc front. and a near perfect firewall. just needs cab corners and rockers. i might build this one instead. im on the fence. idk which i like better. 60-63 or 64-66. the knee knocker is growing on me. and the firewall being there helps too. idk what to do now
