Summit also has a heater/defrost unit.. the Mojave. Haven't used it, but am probably going with it unless I can find something else. I like the smooth look, too

Hmmmm ( thought inside my head) 27* and the sun is out this morning...guess I'll roll the truck out of the garage and take that to work...it's going to be up in the low 60's this afternoon only a few more weeks and the dam snow will be on the ground but get it while I can

That mojave unit is pretty slick, and it's only $160 and 40 for the extra plenum. All I have to do is mount it under the dash and run 2 lines from the engine to it. Very clean look while having heat and defrost!!!

I'm sure someone on here has used one or knows someone who has who might be of some help. flamingbig10 (he's a boardmember) has installed one, don't know if he has it hooked up yet, you might ask him.

Ok, today I kinda jumped around on a few things on the truck. I started with the boring body work for a while. Got the passenger side ready for paint and did a little work on the upper cab corners. They look silly because the guy that had it before me tried to body fill the seam and didn't finish it. So I am debating on taking the filler out or finishing what he started.

Then once that was done I got creative with an old dirt bike chain and a welder.

While I was on photobucket here is a pic of my old mud truck I had to sell

I had to get out of that sport, it was costing me too much money every week and it sucks to put that much work into something and then going out and beating the crap out of it in the mud till something breaks, and then more work and money to fix it.

With the new body on it.

I would weld the seam instead of using body filler...

You are definetly right about that! BTW, that is a sweet set of 4x4 you had!

You said you bought this project in pieces right? Looks like a very solid project. How much did you have to pay for it? If you don't mind me asking? I love these years (69-70) more than all the rest put together.

You are also making some serious progress on this project! I like your shop too. Keep up the good work.

Well as far as the price of the truck. I own a heating and cooling business and a customer didn't have the money to pay me for my labor, so I traded it for the truck, so my labor was about $1700.00 Not a bad deal being the guy that I got the truck from just put around $5000.00 into it!!

Tonight the first thing that I did was clean up my pigsty of a barn and in the process almost ran the truck into my dirt bike and quad. The shifter was in reverse when I went to move it and didn't know it.

Then I got to work on capping off the back of the bed rails, This is the first time I have ever tried making my own body pieces like this, I think it looks pretty good.

I hope that I am not putting too many pictures up on here, but I like to see lots of pics of other peoples builds. Its because of this site that I am getting into this project as much as I am. Lots of other people having all the same headaches as I am.

No way! it's not possible to put too many pics on your thread. You know most of us just look at the pictures on here anyway.

Like the shaved bed ends, I assume your gonna do the stake pockets too?

Yes, I am going to do the pockets also, just wanted something to do when my buddy gets over here this weekend. The pictures of the barn are after I cleaned it up, it was pretty nasty in there.

I need to work on the inside of the bed. I got new rails for the wood that was spot welded to the bed sides, but I dont have a spot welder and I don't want to just weld across the top cuz you will see it. Any suggestions????

If it was me I wouldn't weld them in at all. Just use carriage bolts, flat head bolts or maybe some button head cap screws. My personal favorite is E pictured here:

THAT's What I need! I was sitting there wheel brushing my bed for hours trying to figure out what I was going to do because some of the square holes on my bed are no longer square!

I don't think that those would work either, The bed wood needs to go up tight to the sides and the head of those bolts will keep it away an 1/8" or so. What about drilling holes and using a rivet gun?
