my 96 extended cab short box frame is boxed further back than the earlier frames, anyone have link to pictures of this style frame being cut down?

Yep, it's gonna be more difficult than with an earlier frame. You can pretty much do it the same way as they do with the older ones, you just also have to section the additional boxing. I'd probably do that first, then split it at the splice.

Or, like I did, leave it long and cut 2.375" from the front of a long box and run it. I wanted the longer box on mine for hauling.

can't leave it long I have a short box, the running boards and bed would be to short

I have another idea, I plan to bag and 4 link the rear of this anyway, why not just move the rear axle forward 5 inches this way?

ok must not be many baged or 4 links on here, but I looked at it and this should work and just trim the rear of the frame rails, may have to relocate the tank though.

That would work if the kick over the rear axle was long enough. Or move the C knotch forward to match the axle location.
I think we are pretty much split on the bag thing here. Some guys think that they are the hot lick and a lot of us don't have any use for them.

I'm thinking about running a pair on the back of the 48 in conjunction with springs to be able to keep my rear static height exactly where I want it empty or loaded with travel gear.
