High Torque Mini Starters

FYI: If you get in a jam with a hot starter before you get it fixed dribble a jug of water between the head and firewall.

Had an 86 with that problem and went through 3-4 starters and solenoids, Ended up selling it before figuring out why or how it kept getting heat soaked, but I kept a gallon of water with me during summer months and used the dribble trick several times and it always worked. Yes that was a cheesy trick but it got me back on the road.

I'm still on the fence, like I said - rebuild OE High Torque starter, re-install, run it, evaluate. If issue continues, try the solenoid kit. Evaluate, install mini starter. After that, evaluate some more...

FWIW I never got heat soak with the old starters either with headers.

*edit Oops, forget it, you have a SM465. Maybe it will help somebody else.
