My 78 was a painted cap originally. I think the 5.7 diesels started around 78, and the 6.2 around 82.

Thanks...
She didn't start off that way.. Factory color was midnight blue if I remember correctly.. I still have the factory window sticker. I painted it white almost 15 years ago.. Then bought it from the original owner a few years later..

When I'm done with all the mechanicals, It's going it to get stripped and painted the same White that is on the new 2014 corvette.

I just picked up a HT502 crate engine for it.. After I swap it out, it's going to get painted... Can't wait.. LOL

Re: Let's see some 73-87 1 Ton Dually Pictures!

Here is a different one, it's a 1982 GMC K3500.
It started life as an USAir-Force Ambulance in Iceland, driven by a medic from Alaska, as I found in the papers and pictures in between the seat cushion. I bought it in England, or better said I traded it for a ex Royal AirForce Bombardier Bombi which was used as a mosquito sprayer somewhere on an island in the Pacific, as was told to me.
It had a 350 V8 with a TH400 transmission with NP 205, part time 4x4. it used to have a huge winch driven by the PTO but the English owner took it off and I have no idea what I need to replace it with.

I live in the Netherlands, Europe and I have changed the truck from Ambulance to a off-road camper. As seen on one of the pictures I made some sort of slide-out which is my bed so I have a little more space in the inside, just enough to sleep, wash and cook...
The original paint was OD green but I painted it in MERDC camouflage which I like better. The many add-ons are some kind of jokes to fool a little around 'cause we're not really liked since it is an army kind vehicle. I use it for camping and offroading.

Dude, that needs either a full-house drag boat or a Super Modified on an open trailer behind it. Love love love it!

Thanks, no boat or super modified, but we did haul a 32' enclosed trailer with our gasser in it.

I have had some guys messaging me on another site asking if my K30's are for sale. I told them they had to be bought as a pair for $8500 if they wanted them or I could start taking the wheels and maybe the good off and drop a little. Don't really want to sell them but if they want them then that is what it was. I would just turn around and go find me another one.

Re: Let's see some 73-87 1 Ton Dually Pictures!

I just found this thread, and there are some amazing rigs on here! Here are a few pics of my six-wheeled beauty. The first one was shortly after I bought it. The second one is after I made a slight bumper upgrade, and the last two are of it doing some winter working/playing.

Thanks! That is a mighty fine looking truck you have there, too! That is sort of what I would like mine to look like as far as the lift goes. What kind of height are you running in that?

That thing is amazing! You don't see many that are THAT nice from that particular vintage. What size are those tires? They are like a perfect fit for that stance!
