Re: Daverods project 66

Took the sides off the trailer I bought. Took the paint off one side. Had alittle bondo on it but not bad. Welded up some holes on my hood to late to grind it down. Don't want to piss anyone off. Sanded on my doors some more they're getting closer. need to get a real camara so I can get some close ups. When I take close ups it just looks fuzzy. bought a 71 sub for a parts tyruck should be here this week end. $250 and it runs. Haven't seen it yet the guy said he's going to drive it down here. Hope it has a 350 in it. Wonder if I could use the gas tank?

Lookin' good. Your camera doesn't have macro for close ups?

I lost the book for it and I'm not sure how to get it into macro mode. Whats the symbol for macro look like on yours?

It would quite likely work.

The macro on my camera is a flower also...... it's the standard image for the macro.

Re: Daverods project 66

I never even thought about using the gas tank. I was happy with the disk brakes and the rear end, I aready had the power steering and power brakes. I don't think my camera has macro. I guess no close ups. They just make my welds look bad anyways. From a distance they look ok.

Re: Daverods project 66

Not to many good parts. I'm going to use the cross member and disk brakes/ rear end. I think I'm going to keep the engine and use it for a 383. I don't know about the trans. Other than that the thing is a rust bucket. The front windshield is good and the door glass is good. Other than that is going to the dump.

Engine and trans out. I was hoping the flex plate was good but it has some damage on the side of the gears. Hack and wack . A carpenter with a saws all is a dangerous thing.

Damn that looks like fun. Much cleaner than riding in the Desert.

Re: Daverods project 66

I went to the junk yard today. Picked up a 89 van gas tank ($40). I think it a 27 gal? The first one I got was from a 81 it was a 33 gal. It fit between the frame but it sat up to high. Took it back and got the one I have now. I had to shave about 3/4 of a inch off the bottom of the frame and alittle off the front member. The filler neck was pointed up alittle to much so I bent it down alittle and drilled a hole in the frame. I going to put a door in the side of my bedside so I can fill it. It's been raining here a lot and the junk yard was a like a mud lake.

Re: Daverods project 66

It was'nt that bad because they pull most the tanks and just set them in the cars/trucks. Still had to walk around in it though. I love junk yards.

Here in California they punch holes in the tank to drain them. They are usually not for sale. The one I got from a Blazer didn't have a hole in it, I thought.
I didn't notice it until I took it out. Normally they aren't even in the car. This one was, so I thought it was OK. Oh well I can patch it.
