Re: Check this K5 out

Some sort of advertising campaign going On there I suspect. Lacks rosette rivets for the VIN tag and the RH door isn’t from a K5. I suppose originality isn’t a big factor for an interested buyer though. A lot of work went into the build it seems.

K5s for 70-72 had reinforcement plates around the door latches. Sort of a corner shot of one here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...06&postcount=6

69s didn’t have these reinforcements. I can’t recall if 69s had the screw under the vent window or not.

I don’t see the Blazer for sale having a reinforcement plate. I suspect it’s an aftermarket door. It won’t detract from the ride obviously but noteworthy imo for valuation.

It could also be a cut down truck door that they didn’t install a reinforcement plate on. I have an NOS drivers truck door that I intend to cut down for my blazer and install the reinforcement plate. From what I’ve read they didn’t make a separate door for the Blazers they actually cut truck doors for the Blazers and it is shown that way in the assembly manual but I could be wrong.

Could be. I think that’s exactly what GM did. There’s some factory literature on cutting down the pickup door.

That linked photo above is from a longer thread on cutting a truck door down: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...06#post2526006

Re: Check this K5 out

I thought I was spending a lot of money on my Blazer... I'm into it over $3k on the current build. I guess I can stop feeling guilty.

A buddy of mine sent a Jalopnik link showing that it sold for that on BAT. It is a crazy world where a non-rare, non-numbers matching, non-concours restoration of a plebeian vehicle like a 72 Blazer can fetch that kind of money.

Please no one tell my wife...
