Dropping- coils or spindles?

Hey,

I am considering dropping my 71 C10 and am looking at early classic industries' dropping packages. What are the adavntages of dropping with spindles instead of the lowered springs? I would be doing 2 inches with the springs or 2.5 with the spindles. i am pretty sure i am going to drop 4 inches in back.

The spindles will give better front end geometry than a drop spring. I have a 3" drop on a spring , & it doesnt ride/handle bad, but the ball joints have some wild angles. that cant be good for parts. also, you may be running a more expensive shock with a drop spring. with the cost of the spring & shock you could well justify the spindle price IMO. good luck.....crazy AL

Spindles arent bad to do, just peel all the brake parts & rotors,& loosen the nuts on the balljoints then rap the knuckles sharp with a brass hammer(side shot, where the pin goes through). You will probably need a separator fork for the tie rod ends, & it would be a good time to think about balljoints/tierod ends if they are original, & repack wheel bearings/inspect brake pads. good luck.....crazy AL

I have their products on my '69. You can't beat them. They use AC/Delco, Raybestos, etc., so parts are all available locally. Their spindles will fit using your stock tie rod ends, etc. Since your truck already has discs, your conversion is a "no-brainer", so to speak.

I did a lot of other work, i.e., new ball joints, center link, idler arm, upper/lower control arm bushings and shafts, springs, shocks, so my truck really drives like a new one. I used the stock height springs on the front, but lowered the rear with their 4-inch lowering springs, and adjustable track bar with new shocks (shorter).

I recommend them. The folks at their facility are very helpful and will answer all of your questions.

Thanks for all the replys. does anyone have any pics of their LWB with the 2.5/4 drop? I'm looking for a drop to make it look less like a grandpa truck but not enough to make it look "slammed".

Thats exactly the drop i want! It makes it look almost exactly leveled out, instead of the back end stickin up ^
