Trouble lights

Was reading on the HAMB about a guy who was working on his gas tank. Had an old style trouble light the bulb in a cage type. A couple of drops of gas hit the hot bulb and broke it as well as lighting up the gas. Burned up the rear side of his car and smoked up the garage but he did not lose it.
The florescent and LED lights seem to be the way to go and they are more reasonably priced now. Also do you have a fire extinguisher in your shop?
